​Hyderabad: Almost 70 percent of the road restoration works taken up in the Metro Rail corridors by HMRL at a cost of about Rs 15 crore in the last few weeks had been completed, stated HMRL Managing Director N V S Reddy.

Road No 36 of Jubilee Hills has been restored to good shape with a combination of BT and paver blocks. Similarly, the bad patches in Secunderabad, Begumpet, Krishna Nagar and Jubilee Hills Road No 5 areas of Metro Corridor-III and Miyapur to LB Nagar in Corridor-I are being repaired with BT.

Further, NH authorities would take up major recarpeting of Corridor-I road from Miyapur to LB Nagar at a cost of Rs 40 crore in the next few days, he said.

Inspecting the ongoing cement concrete (CC) road laying work at Lakdikapul Metro Station area on a stretch of about 230 metres from Venkateshwara Hotel to Bharat Petrol Pump, he mentioned that in view of perennial water stagnation and leakages from sewer lines, storm water drains etc., a combination of CC and paver blocks road is being laid here as a permanent solution.

The left side of the road (Venkateshwara Hotel side) which is low lying and prone to water logging has a total width of about 12 metres.

Eight metres portion of the width is being concretised with multilevel concrete layers using Vacuum Dewatered Flooring (VDF) technology.

Since this area is in high density traffic zone, this technology helps quick setting of concrete with the required strength. Special curing compound is also being used here to make the newly laid CC road motorable within seven days, thus minimising inconvenience to road users.

Already 4 metres of CC road is laid which is opened for traffic and now another 4 metres road width is being covered with CC.

Since multiple sewer lines, storm water lines, telephone cable conduits etc., are running below this road, they are being strengthened and the sewer and storm water drains are being desilted to avoid chock points.

For any repairs of these lines and laying of any fresh utility lines in future, the extreme end of 4 mtrs of the road will be covered with paver blocks for facilitating any such future works.

HMRL Chief Engineer Md Ziauddin and other senior engineers of HMRL participated in the inspection.
