Hyderabad: Dr. Sahebrao Sonkamble, a geo-environment scientist at CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), has been conferred ‘AHI-Phani Kishore - Young Scientist Award’ by the Association of Hydrologists of India for his novel contribution to Water Resource Management.

Dr Sonkamble’s research focuses on reuse and recycle of waste water using natural treatment systems on cost-effective mode.The award recognises the best presentation made at the 34th AHI Annual Convention and Symposia on ‘Water Resource & Water Policies’ and ‘Geosciences for Sustainability’ organized by the Federation of Indian Geosciences Association (FIGA), Indian Geophysical Union (IGU) and the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) IIT(ISM). On 23 June, he was honoured with “Associate Fellow” title by the Telangana Academy of Science for the year 2015.
