Hyderabad: Airtel, the country’s largest telecom operator, and Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), on Tuesday announced the launch of complimentary Wi-Fi services for commuters of Metro Luxury buses.

As part of the Telangana government’s efforts to make Hyderabad a global smart city, the service has been launched in 115 buses operating between busy routes in the city as a pilot for six months.

The service enables customers across operators to avail complimentary Wi-Fi and enjoy mobile internet services on the go for up to 20 minutes per day per user.

All a passenger needs to do is to connect to Airtel 4G free Wi-Fi signal, enter the phone number and a four-digit OTP (onetime password) and enjoy free Wi-FI for 20 minutes.

However, to continue to avail Wi-Fi services after the complimentary period, the passengers need to buy data packs at low costs.

“The launch of complimentary Wi-Fi services on-the-go is a real step forward in modernising the lifestyle of our citizens, whether business, education or pleasure.

This remarkable partnership with the Telangana government’s TSRTC is the largest in the country and will double the joy for travelers as it connects more Hyderabadi citizens than ever before,” said Venkatesh Vijayraghavan, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Bharti Airtel.
