The two-judge PIL bench of the High court at Hyderabad comprising acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shanker Narayan on Tuesday gave three weeks time to the GHMC to respond to a writ petition complaining of the pathetic conditions of the roads in the city.

The bench is hearing a writ plea filed by MLC Ramachander Rao of BJP. S Sriram, counsel for the petitioner complained that the roads were not just in pathetic condition but became killer roads.

The petitioner pointed out that there were traffic snarls aplenty and repairs of suspect quality. Keshav Rao Counsel for GHMC argued that the civic authorities had to combat the fury of rains and was doing its best.

The bench then asked him to put the stance of the GHMC in a counter affidavit and adjourned the case by three weeks.
