Hyderabad: Finance Minister Eatala Rajender and Animal Husbandry Minister T Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday said that the government would modernise Vijaya Dairy at an estimated cost of Rs 263 crore.
At a review meeting of Animal Husbandry Department on Tuesday, Srinivas Yadav said that to increase the sale of products of Vijaya Dairy new milk chilling centres would be constructed and the capacity of existing centres would also be increased. The Vijaya products would be made available in various places including supermarkets.
The Minister directed the officials to take steps for starting new outlets for selling the Vijaya products. He directed the officials to take up an exercise of setting up of outlets near religious places and highways. There is a need for massive promotion for selling Vijaya products, he said.
The Minister directed the officials to make field visits and prepare plans and send it to the government for developing the organisation. He said, since there is a huge demand for Vijaya dairy products among the people, officials should take steps for setting up of curd plants in the district headquarters.
He expressed dissatisfaction that even after government assistance, the organisation was unable to compete with private companies. The minister directed the officials to ensure the loans under NCDC for sheep, goat societies should reach the eligible persons. The delay in selection of beneficiary would lead to interest burden on the government, he said. The minister emphasised on registering new cooperative milk societies.
