Hyderabad: Prominent TRS and BJP leaders who were facing criminal charges in connection with the rail roko programme during the thick of the movement for separate Telangana State in 2011, on Thursday, got relief when the court struck down the cases.
Cases were booked against TRS leaders including Telangana Ministers Nayani Narsimha Reddy, KT Rama Rao and Padma Rao, and BJP leaders including Union Minister Bandaru Dattareya and MLA G Kishan Reddy for participating in the rail roko programme and disrupting the train services.
The Railway Court in Secunderabad, pronouncing its verdict on Wednesday, dropped all the charges against them.
