Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari on Wednesday directed the principals of junior colleges to bring back past glory of the colleges by making persistent efforts. He was participating as chief guest at a workshop for principals at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium here, attended by Education Principal Secretary Ranjeev Acharya and other officials.

On the occasion, the Minister said the previous governments had neglected the colleges and they had to revamp their working style and functioning. The efforts by the State government could see an additional intake of 40,000 students at government colleges, he claimed.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was for transforming the education sector to show unsurpassed results by providing necessary support to colleges and other educational institutions, he maintained. He exhorted the principals to make coordinated efforts with a focus on standards and quality, using the latest technologies and excelling in their efforts. Besides keeping their premises clean and green, the principals have to shoulder the responsibility to see improved results.

The government had taken measures to revamp the education system and encourage residential education through Gurukul institutions, he said adding that as the government had geared up to provide all facilities, funds and teaching staff, the colleges had to outshine private colleges and institutions.
