Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee will organise State-wide agitation on November 28 to protest against the demonetisation of high-value currency notes.

Briefing media persons after chairing the meeting of TPCC office-bearers at Gandhi Bhavan on Wednesday, TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy said the All India Congress Committee (AICC) had directed the State party units to stage protests. He said the Centre’s action in scrapping the high-value currency notes without preparations had led to all-round misery. All sections of people had still been facing untold suffering, he said. People were forced to stand in queue for long hours to withdraw their own hard-earned money.

He wondered how the Prime Minister was able to still sporting a smile, while 100 crore people were reeling under demonetisation effect.

Uttam Kumar Reddy recalled that Narendra Modi had promised to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks within 100 days after coming to power, but failed to do so even after 912 days in power He said noted economist Jean Dreze had described demonetisation in a booming economy like shooting at the tyres of a racing car.

He also slammed the Chief Minister for spending Rs 40 crore on new posh bungalow. He accused KCR of fritter away public money because of his blind beliefs in ‘vastu.’
