Hyderabad: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said the demonetisation would impair the finances of anti-national elements.

Inaugurating the DGPs and IGPs Conference-2016 at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy in Hyderabad, Rajnath Singh commended the efforts of Indian police forces for all round improvement in the internal security situation.

Praising the coordinated efforts of Central and State intelligence agencies for not letting ISIS indoctrinated youth in committing any act of terror in the country, he stressed on the need to exchange information relating to the best practices among police personnel of all States and Central agencies.

The Union Home Minister gave away the Indian Police Medals for meritorious service to officers of Intelligence Bureau and Ministry of Home Affairs.

The 3-day conference would deliberate on various security-related issues confronting the nation, and measures to come out with ways and means to tackle them. This is the 51st meet of DGPs and IGPs and the third outside Delhi.

The idea of holding the meeting of DGPs and IGPs outside Delhi was mooted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he became the Prime Minister in 2014. It was held in Guwahati in 2014 and in Bhuj in Gujarat in 2015.

Earlier, Rajnath Singh paid floral tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and homage to the martyrs of the Indian Police Service at the Martyr’s Memorial in the academy by laying a wreath.

Ministers of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi, NPA Director Aruna M Bahuguna, heads of CAPFs and senior officers from security and intelligence agencies are attending the conference.
