According to RBI officials, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh come under the jurisdiction of the regional office of RBI at Hyderabad. Hence, containers of the demonetised currency notes from 31 districts of TS and 13 districts of Andhra Pradesh would be brought to the city to deposit the same till the end of December 30.

Further, the deposited demonetised notes would be shipped to Mumbai and Delhi from Hyderabad to clear the space for more truck loads of demonetised currency arrivals, the RBI sources added. Waiting trucks lined up on the wayside waiting for their turn to deposit the demonetised notes attracted the motorists and people to slow down and catch a glimpse, giving cops and traffic police a tough time to ensure smooth flow of traffic between Ravindra Bharathi and AG’s Office.

“Today trucks with demonetised notes from Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Anantapur, Warangal and Karimnagar arrived to deposit at the RBI. The frequency of the number of trucks are expected to go up from tomorrow. Each truck has been given a token to enter into RBI premises and to make deposit,” said officials.

Though the officials are not coming forth on the total value of the demonetised deposits made, the total deposits from both the states might run into thousands of crores, they added. Because, the total value of deposit of demonetised currency which came from the State Bank of India (SBI), Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh on Friday to deposit at the RBI office alone has been pegged at Rs 410 crore, said a senior bank official who came along with the high security truck.
