Officials play truant, MP expresses ire

Nalgonda: District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee Chairman and Nalgonda M P Gutha Sukhender Reddy went hammer and tongs on the absence of higher officials in the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting, conducted on Saturday at Nalgonda.

Reviewing the implementation of central urban development schemes, Sukhender Reddy sought information from Commissioner of Miryalaguda Municipality. When Sanitary Inspector rose to reply, he questioned about his designation and inquired about the reason for the absence of Municipal Commissioner.

When reply from the Sanitary Inspector was ‘no’ to his question whether he know details of urban development schemes, Sukhender Reddy got angry and expressed strong displeasure over absence of the officials and lower level officers attending the meeting.

He felt that it was indicating the disinterest of officials to attend District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting, which would review the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in the district.

The schedule of the meeting was informed to the officials few days before the actual date, hence how could the officials go on leave and not attend the crucial meeting, he questioned.

Sukhender Reddy also asked the District Collector Uppal Gaurav, who was present at the meeting, to take stringent action against the officials, who were absent.
