Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter Kalvakuntla Kavitha has a village under name. The villagers of Khanapur in Nizamabad district of Telangana have decided to rename the name after the TRS MP overwhelmed the support she has showed to the village.

As per the report in the Hindustan Times, the village has passed a resolution a few days ago by the Khanapur gram panchayat as an act of reverence towards Kavitha for rescuing them during the time when they were displaced by the Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP) reservoir on Godavari river.

The villagers shared that the 274 houses in the village were submerged under the SRSP waters but due to MP Kavitha's support, they were rehabilitated to a place a few kilometres away from their village and also a new piece of land is allotted to rebuild the village.

The villagers would now call the village Kavithapuram although it would continue to be Khanapur in the revenue records till the government issues a notification to that effect.
