Hyderabad: The first Chief Secretary of the newly formed Telangana State Rajiv Sharma would retire from service on attaining superannuation on Wednesday. Rajiv Sharma was to have actually retired on May 31 but got six month extension till November 30. While state Special Chief Secretary (Revenue) Pradeep Chandra tipped to be the next head of the state administration, sources said that Sharma is likely to be rewarded with the post of Advisor to the state government in recognition of his services to the newly formed state.

A grand farewell is being planned for him. Sharma would lay down his office at 3 pm on Wednesday. Ministers and several senior officials would attend the function. It may be recalled that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had praised the services of Rajiv Sharma in putting the state administration on track soon after the formation of the new state and said that he had handled many difficult situations in a deft manner. He had also stated that the government would utilise his experience and services in a befitting manner after his retirement.
