Hyderabad: The State government is working out strategies to put the economy back on track and see that the negative impact of demonetisation is minimised.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday stated that the government is facing a critical period following demonetisation and is likely to go in for first major administrative shake up and appoint best of the officers in revenue generation departments.

Demonetisation shocker

  • Administrative shake-up soon
  • Best officers to be roped in for revenue generation

Top sources told The Hans India that the Chief Minister was holding series of meetings with officials of CMO on the measures that need to be taken to see that the State’s economy does not suffer much.

Sources said that KCR is of the opinion that while best of IAS officers should be posted in revenue generating departments there was need to draft some IPS officers particularly in the vigilance wings of excise, Commercial Taxes and other such departments to make them corruption free.

It may be mentioned here that the appointment of a senior IPS officer C V Anand as Commissioner of State Civil Supplies Corporation had yielded good results.

The Chief Minister, according to sources is scrutinising the profiles of IAS officers in the rank of district collectors to special chief secretaries and depending upon their expertise, they would be given new responsibilities.

The government had appointed Principal Secretary Department of Animal Husbandry Suresh Chanda as head of taskforce to prepare an action plan for implementing the cash less economy in the State.

Similarly, more senior officers would be given important responsibilities so that the government can come out of the financial crisis.

This exercise is likely to be completed in the next ten days time. Speculations are rife that Principal Secretary (Industry) Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary Finance K Ramakrishna Rao, IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, Toursim Secretary B Venkatesham and Principal Secretary to ST Welfare Somesh Kumar may be entrusted with new responsibilities.
