Hanamkonda: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has insulted national honour by describing the demonetised currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 as ‘waste papers’ and thus damaging national economy, CPI national secretary K Narayana stated here on Tuesday.

Modi’s statement showed his arrogance and he should be punished for calling the currency as “waste paper.” “Not even a person like Hitler could do such a thing,” Narayana said, while speaking to press persons in Hanamkonda on Tuesday. He attended the ongoing CPI State conference.

The CPI leader went on to add that the Prime Minister, who was rubbing shoulders with corporates, had embarked on demonetisation in a bid to win elections in five States which go to polls this year. If he failed to win in Uttar Pradesh, his position would become shaky, Narayana predicted.

The BJP had helped liquor baron Vijaya Mallya to become Rajya Sabha member. When the Enforcement Directorate tried to seize the passport of Mallya, the Prime Minister had intervened and helped liquor baron escape to London by evading payment of loans to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore.

And recently Rs 7,000 crore loan taken by Mallya was written off. In the same manner, Rs 5.80 lakh crores of benefits in the form of tax exemptions and others were given to corporate houses in just two and half years of BJP rule while in its 10 year rule UPA regime extended Rs 5.40 lakh crore benefits to corporate, Narayana explained.

He sought to know why the Centre was not recovering Rs 8,000 crore loans taken by Adani group and Rs 13 lakh crore of loans by other businessmen in the country.

Similarly the government was not acting against Reliance though the CAG observed that nearly Rs 20,000 crore worth natural gas was illegally drawn from ONGC wells in KG basin, he added.
