K T Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration and IT has assured that Sangareddy and Sadashivpet towns would become outdoor defecation free (ODF) municipal areas by January 1, 2017 and that all other municipal areas across the state would become ODF by June 2, 2017, as per the plans laid out by the State government.

During a review meeting he held with municipality officials of Sangareddy and Sadashivpet towns at the District Collectorate on Wednesday, he has sanctioned Rs 5 Crore for the development of the two municipal areas and assured another Rs 5 Crore for development after declaring these municipal areas as ODF.

He has asked the municipality officials to follow solid waste management practices while disposing-off wastes at a five-acre-land identified for the purpose near Sangareddy and announced that the ban on use of plastic flexis would be in effect from January 1, 2017.

He also said 31 autos were being procured for collection of waste from every house in 31 wards of Sangareddy and another 6 autos for Sadashivpet municipality.

Pointing out that collection of property tax in Sangareddy district was too low; he allowed those who haven’t taken permissions for construction of buildings in the town to pay an additional 25 per cent fine and secure permissions for construction by December 31, 2016.

He warned that stringent action would be taken against those who construct buildings without permission from January 1, 2017.

Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao also participated in the review along with District Collector Manickraj Kannan, Joint Collector V Venkateswarlu, MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, MLA Chinta Prabhakar and others.
