Move afoot to promote Telangana State handicrafts globally
Efforts to promote Telangana handicrafts and handloom sarees across the country and the globe are being made by the State government by establishing Golconda Handicrafts Emporiums in different districts and also in Telangana Bhavan in New Delhi.

By marketing the products on sites like Amazon, Flipkart and eBay, the government is trying to boost the sales of handicrafts and handlooms by delivering the products at their doorstep.
K T Rama Rao, Minister for IT and T Harish Rao, Minister for Irrigation inaugurated the new Golconda Handicrafts Emporium in Sangareddy on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, K T Rama Rao said that Lepakshi Emporiums all over Telangana were now named as Golconda Handicrafts Emporiums, where not only handicrafts would be available for sale, but also specially weaved sarees from different places would also be sold.
He said that one of the objectives of the move was to elevate artists and craftsmen from across Telangana to a global level by promoting their products this way. He appreciated craftsmen who were working in various professions but were also doing their part in keeping the art alive. He added that steps were being taken to ensure craftsmen didn’t get affected by the VAT on their products due to implementation of GST reform in the state.
He directed Manick Raj Kannan, District Collector, to provide space for Muslim women who work on Zari Zardosi works in Sangareddy. He also assured that purchase of these products would also be done by government departments and steps would be taken to give loans and subsidies to handicrafts men/women.
He said that soon similar emporia would be setup in Medak and Siddipet towns as well. Deputy Speaker Padma Devender Reddy, MP Kotha Prabhakar Reddy , MLA Chinta Prabhakar, other MLAs and MLCs took part in the inaugural ceremony.
