Sanctuary Asia award for Tejdeep

Hyderabad: Director General of Telangana State Special Protection Force (TSSPF) Tejdeep Kaur Menon would be presented with ‘Wind Under The Wings’ Award by nature and conservation portal Sanctuary Asia.
The award -- being given for distinguished work in spearheading exceptional initiatives to clean, rejuvenate and protect urban water bodies --- would be given to the senior IPS officer at the National Centre for Performing Arts in Mumbai on December 2.
Tejdeep had embarked on a series of interventions, systematically tackling one problem at a time to rejuvenate Ameenpur lake. She began by first motivating TSSPF personnel to become eco-volunteers and then worked along with local NGOs Hyderabad Birding Pals (HBP) and Friends of Flora and Fauna (FoFF) Society.
Thanks to her sustained efforts, the Ameenpur lake has since become the first water body in the country to be declared a Biodiversity Heritage Site. She also launched efforts to undertake similar campaign at the Fox Sagar lake and in Anantagiri Hills.
