Bhoodan Board ex-chief arrested for cheating

Hyderabad: The Hayathnagar police on Friday arrested former chairman of AP Bhoodan Board Gunnam Rajender Reddy in connection with a series of cheating cases.

According to the police, Rajender Reddy had collected huge amounts and cheated poor people by giving them forged and fabricated patta proceedings through his agents in Bhoodan lands under survey numbers 215 to 224 of Kuntloor village in Ranga Reddy district. The accused collected several lakhs of rupees from the people and fobbed them off with fake pattas. Multiple cases were registered in this connection.

Six of his associates were arrested previously in separate cases. Investigations into these cases led the police to come to a conclusion that Rajender Reddy was the king-pin. Consequently, he was arrested and sent to judicial custody.
