Hyderabad: Dundigal police on Friday took a 40-year-old man into custody for allegedly molesting his 11-year-old foster daughter on November 30.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, the accused, M Santosh Reddy of Kurnool district divorced his first wife and married a divorcee five years ago, who had a 6-year-old daughter with her first husband.

On November 30, the woman went to her work as a daily wage labourer when Santosh Reddy picked up the girl from her school and sexually assaulted her at an isolated place, the complainant told the police. She also said in her complaint that the accused had threatened the victim with dire consequences, if she revealed the incident to anyone.

However, the complainant came to know from the school authorities on Thursday that the girl’s foster father had taken the girl on November 30. She grew suspicious and tried to elicit the truth from her daughter and was shocked to know the inhuman and immoral crime committed by her second husband.

The woman pondered over approaching the police and finally lodged a complaint with the police on Friday. Soon, police took the accused into custody and launched investigations.
