Tandur: “The ancient dance form Perini is receiving encouragement from people, particularly educated classes and youth”, said dancer and Perini exponent Raj Kumar, who performed in various schools here on Friday.

To take this important aspect of Telangana culture to the people at large, Perini dance shows were being conducted all over the State for 101 days under the aegis of the State cultural department, he said. Already 75 days had been completed. The concluding ceremony would be held at Ravindra Bharathi in Hyderabad on December 28.

State Ministers Jagadeshwar Reddy and Chandulal, cultural department commissioner and various artistes would be participating in the event, he said. Raj Kumar outlined the greatness and importance of the dance form to the students. He expressed his hope that steps would be taken for the development of arts related to Telangana culture and tradition. Teachers from different schools and others participated in the programme.
