Police cane bank customers for blocking road
Tension prevailed in Tolichowki area here on Friday as the police resorted to a mild lathi charge when irate bank customers blocked the roads in front of the State Bank of India’s Tolichowki branch, resulting in traffic snarls.
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in Tolichowki area here on Friday as the police resorted to a mild lathi charge when irate bank customers blocked the roads in front of the State Bank of India’s Tolichowki branch, resulting in traffic snarls.
According to the police, hundreds of customers had lined up before the bank for withdrawing their money.
Even as customers began expressing their displeasure over the agonizing delay in disbursement of cash, some bank officials came out and announced that there no more cash was available with the bank.
This infuriated the customers who then staged a protest on the roads near the bank. One of the protesters reportedly hurled a stone at a passing city bus and damaged its glass, following which the police resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
