Irregularities in pensions disbursement

Nizamabad: Beneficiaries of ‘Asara’ pensions urged the government to come to their aid and disburse pensions in smaller denominations here on Saturday.

The government released funds for pensions through only Rs 2000 notes. The postal department officers who withdrew the funds from banks later deposited the drawn amount back.

The officials of the postal department ordered its staff not to disburse pensions to beneficiaries until they get funds in Rs 100 and Rs 500 notes which would take another week or so.

It is learnt that the funds weren’t been released in accordance with the pensioners number. Morthad postal department received only Rs six lakh against Rs 30 lakh requirement.
