Like in any other district, noise pollution caused due to public gatherings, social events and marriage processions which continue late until midnight in towns and villages had made life miserable for residents.

Imposes ban on high volume sound systems

Medak: Medak SP G Chandana Deepti has cracked the whip on people using high volume sound systems including DJ (high volume sound mixers) emanating sound levels beyond permissible limits in places of public gatherings including processions in residential localities- by banning their use on Saturday.

Like in any other district, noise pollution caused due to public gatherings, social events and marriage processions which continue late until midnight in towns and villages had made life miserable for residents.

This decision is expected to not only reduce noise pollution, but would also reduce violence caused by alcoholism in parties and would also prevent obstruction of police communication systems deployed in relation to bandobust duties, apart from several other problems it has been creating for children, aged and the ill.

Other than cases specifically permitted by the Sub-divisional police officers of the concerned jurisdiction, nobody is allowed to use high volume sound systems hereon. Any person violating the notification would be charged under Section 188 of Indian Penal Code.

However, skeptics feel that unless continuous monitoring is done and strict action taken against those violating the rules without succumbing to political pressure, this decision could only remain something on paper just like all other efforts put-in by top cops in the past.
