Warangal Urban: Police have foiled a ‘Beef festival’ planned on Saturday at Kakatiya University. Bahujana Students Federation has planned to organise the festival while Forum Against Hindu Fascism state convener B Abhinav extended support to the event.

ABVP and a few other organisations opposed the festival leading to minor tension on the campus. Heavy police deployment was made at the university to thwart the event and prevent any untoward incidents.

Police have conducted inspections at the three main gates of the university and checked vehicles and tiffin boxes of those entering the university.

Nearly 10 student leaders connected with event, which was planned to held marking World Human Rights Day on Saturday, were arrested by police. Inspections were also conducted at hostels during Friday night.
