Bhadrachalam: Sattupalli legislator and Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams governing body member Sandra Venkata Ramana has accused the Government of Telangana of neglecting the Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple here, though the shrine is often described as ‘Ayodhya of the south’.

At a press conference here on Saturday, the TTD member sought to know why the government does not exhibit towards Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple the same kind of love that it exhibits towards various other temples.

He said that the 100-room choultry proposed to be built here at a cost of Rs 4.65 crore TTD funds had been delayed for want of suitable land. He said that he would strive for development of Lord Sriram’s temple by getting more funds released from the TTD.

The TTD had sanctioned Rs 60 lakh for the construction of Lord Venkateswara temple at Nayakangudem, Jeela Cheruvu and Kandukuru in Khammam district.

The TTD would construct over 500 prayer halls in hamlets inhabited by tribals and fishermen. Twenty five prayer halls were functional in Khammam district.

Facelift was being given to Lord Venkateswara temples in Dalit colonies at a cost of Rs 8 lakh, he said. ZPTC Godeti Ravikumar and others were present at the press conference.
