Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya Monday revealed that the Centre would provide funds for employment generation schemes as part of programme aimed at poverty alleviation and promoting education for the minorities in the State.

The Union Minister promised that he would take up these matters with Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs Muqtar Abbas Naqvi for a grant of Rs 100 crore for the purpose.

He held a review meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahmood Ali and Home and Labour Minister Naini Narsimha Reddy at Dilkusha Guest House here.

Dattatraya discussed the welfare schemes for Minorities in the State, especially the grants to the “Seekho Aur Kamao,” the employment generation programme, funds to micro finance system, especially in the areas of cottage industries, small scale sector for the benefit of Minority Women.

The aspect of advancing loans to the Minorities was also discussed. The programmes were intended for alleviation of poverty, improvement of health, education and employment for Minorities.

When he sought land from the State government for 100-bed ESIC Hospital at Goshamahal and land for the 300- bed hospital between Erragadda and Borabanda, Narsimha Reddy said he would take up the matter with Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Consequent to the enhancement of eligibility limit for ESIC benefits from Rs 15,000 to Rs 21,000 by the Centre, Dattatreya stated that about 35 lakh new beneficiaries would come under the ESIC coverage.

Dattatreya said that he would hold a review meeting on cash crunch in Telugu States, enrolment of labourers with bank accounts, digital literacy on cashless transactions, steps to be taken to mitigate the hardship of the people.
