Hyderabad: The first meeting of Cabinet sub-committee on Monday on promoting digital payments felt that a situation should be created where citizens would be able to transact on all platforms with equal ease. Minister for IT K T Rama Rao, who chaired the meeting, said interoperability between various banking and financial institutions was imperative for successful implementation of cashless transactions.

He said the State government was taking series of steps to promote digital payments in the State. The Minister said the ultimate aim of these measures was to ensure ease of transactions for the citizens and also improve transparency in various government and private transactions.

KTR also gave an overview of the proposed T-Wallet app. The Minister said this payment system is being designed keeping all kinds of users in mind. He urged the officials and bankers participating in the meeting to ensure smooth transition from cash payments to digital payments.

Referring to Ibrahimpur, which is the first village to go cashless in the State, he said a combination of UPI, POS machines, Rupay Cards and QR Code based payments systems were used on pilot basis.

IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan gave a detailed presentation on the proposed T-Wallet. He said that the proposed T-Wallet would possess state-of-the-art features and also inbuilt security measures.

Suresh Chanda, who heads the State taskforce on digital payments, gave an overview of the various findings of the taskforce and the strategy to be followed to promote digital payments in the State. Ministers Etala Rajender, Jagadish Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, and Mahender Reddy attended the meeting.
