Adilabad: Residents of Mokra-K village of Ichchoda mandal of the district has switched over to cashless mode of transactions. It is the second village in the state of Telangana to go cashless after Ibrahimpur village in Siddipet district.

Serpentine queues before ATMS, in front of banks and other places do not bother the villagers. They are not bothered whether the banks and ATMs are dispensing only Rs 2,000 or the cash dried up with them.

In fact, the post demonetisation blues has no impact on them. This is attributed to the whole village of 160 families which switched over to the cashless mode right from pan shops to big establishments.

The village, which has a population of 650, has Jan-Dhan bank accounts for all the villagers. While 107 families have smart phones, 53 do not have such phones.

All the bank accounts have been linked to e-Wallet. The only four provisional stores in the village have been given barcodes. If the bar code is scanned remittances are through.

Talking to The Hans India, village committee president Subhash Gadge said that the new system solved the problem of small change forever.

Owner of a provisional store, Sakkubai said that the business increased with the e-Wallet system. Earlier, there were instances of customers being turned away for want of change.

Similarly, a swipe machine has been set up at each tailoring shop in the village. Post demonetisation, the tailors suffered a lot for want of small change.

Tailor Ravinder said that with the Rupay card the payments became easy. A villager Pramod Kakkad said payments to the vegetable vendors and barbers are being made through the cashless mode.

Only 53 families in the village are making payments through card swiping machine. According to one of the four auto-rickshaw drivers Kiran, the commuters are paying through Rupay card or through e-Wallet solving the problem of shortage of small change forever.

One of the women of the village Vaishnavi has been appointed Digital Akkayya to solve the problems if any on the spot.

A villager Rajender said that the farmers are saved from undergoing the trouble of making several rounds to banks thanks to the cashless mode.

The villagers have been urging the government to implement cashless transactions all over the state.
