BC panel urged to help secure quota for Muslims
The Telangana State Backward Classes Commission, on the second day of its public hearing on Thursday, received over 50 representations from individuals and various organisations with regard to enhancement of reservations for socially and educationally backward communities among Muslims in educational institutions and employment.Â
​Hyderabad: The Telangana State Backward Classes Commission, on the second day of its public hearing on Thursday, received over 50 representations from individuals and various organisations with regard to enhancement of reservations for socially and educationally backward communities among Muslims in educational institutions and employment.
Representatives of many Muslim and BC organisations expressed their views and gave suggestions in this regard. Commission chairman B S Ramulu, members Dr Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, Dr Anjaneya Goud and Juluru Gowri Shankar, and member-secretary G D Aruna were present in the programme.
The representatives of Muslim community expressed their happiness over the recommendations of the Sudhir Commission. They said they were hopeful that 12% reservations for socially and educationally backward classes among Muslims would be implemented soon.
Many people urged the BC Commission to take initiatives to facilitate implementation of enhanced reservations for Muslims as recommended by the Sudhir Commission.
Among those who represented on Thursday were Jamat-e-Islami, Abu Huraira Educational Society, Sir Syed Educational Foundation, Telangana Minorities Secular Front and the Welfare Party of India.
