Hyderabad: The Telangana Assembly session, beginning on Friday, could be a stormy one with the opposition parties bracing up for putting up a united front to corner the government on public issues and the ruling party preparing strategically for facing the onslaught.

The TPCC had initially considered moving a no-confidence motion against the government, but realised later that it would not be a wise move considering only two or at the most three members would get to speak since the party has only 14 members in the House.

On the contrary, the TRS, with its absolute majority, would have a far better chance to lash out at the opposition parties.

TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that the Congress would benefit strategically if it demanded individual discussion on various issues so that the “failures” of the government could be effectively exposed.

He criticised the government for threatening to suspend the members should they walk into the well. It was against democratic ethos and indicated that the government wanted to be on the offensive to silence the opposition, he said.

Meanwhile, the TRS Legislature Party meeting, chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, on Thursday directed the MLAs to give notices on various subjects that could be taken up for discussion.

The issues include demonetization, loan waiver scheme, Mission Kakatiya, status of various irrigation schemes etc.

The TRS, while reiterating its support to the demonetization during the debate on Friday, will explain the hardships being endured by the people and the measures the government had taken to mitigate the suffering.

The party will highlight the steps taken to introduce cashless transactions across the State. It will also explain how the pilot project to make Siddipet a cashless constituency had been successful.

The ruling party members would be giving notices for discussions on schemes like pensions, super fine rice (sanna biyyam), seeds to farmers and other welfare schemes launched by the government.

Sources said that the government would also introduce two important bills – one on private universities and the other one on procuring land from farmers for various projects --during the session.

The Chief Minister asked the members to attend the Assembly regularly and behave in a decent manner, while being fully equipped to counter the opposition charges.

He directed that each Minister should have a team of four MLA attached to him. The Minister as well as the MLAs in his team should be fully equipped with all information and play a proactive role in the House, particularly during debates.

He cautioned them against getting provoked by the opposition parties.
