The programme was organised by the District Youth Affairs and Sports Department as a preparatory event for the State-level Youth Festival scheduled to be held from January 12 to 16 in Hyderabad, as part of Swami Vivekananda’s birth anniversary celebrations.

Students excelling in various co-curricular activities and sports being conducted in the district would be sent from Sangareddy to take part in the State-level event.

Addressing local youth, MLA Chinta Prabhakar, who was the chief guest, said that the future of the country was in the hands of the youth and they needed to behave in a friendly manner with one another.

He asked youth to avail of the benefits of the State government’s welfare schemes with regard to skill development as well as financial support schemes at their disposal.

M Kanakadurga, Senior Civil Judge and Secretary, DLSA, Unified Medak, said that the younger generation formed a majority of the population in India. Youth needed to promote humanism, equality and social harmony in society, taking inspiration from Swami Vivekananda.

Joint Collector Vasam Venkateswarlu told the youth not to get dejected by failures. Instead, they should keep trying till they achieved success in their endeavours, he remarked.

CDC chairman Vijender Reddy, State Yuvajana Sangham president Venugopal and District Youth Affairs and Sports Officer Ramchandra Rao participated in the event. Impressive cultural events by children and youth of Sangareddy marked the programme.
