Hyderabad: With the Telangana government deciding to introduce a bill to amend 'Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013,' for speedy procurement of lands from farmers for projects,

the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) cautioned the government not to take any unilateral decision on important issues.

Addressing the media, TJAC chairman Prof M Kodandaram on Thursday demanded that the State government form a 'House panel' with members of the Assembly, on the lines of Standing Committees in Parliament, to study the proposed bill.

It may be mentioned here that the TJAC had already announced that it would hold a massive dharna with the ‘oustees’ of various projects at Indira Park here, during the Assembly session, to exert pressure on the government to procure lands for projects as per R&R Act, 2013.

The TJAC has also decided to hold a round table conference on the issue with representatives of all political parties on 19th December.

Expressing his reservations to the State government's move to introduce a bill, to allow private universities to set up their centres in the State, Kodandaram said "This will spoil the government educational system.

Instead of encouraging private universities, try to improve infrastructure in government educational institutes," he added.
