A special court of the National Investigation Agency has pronounced its verdict on Monday on the quantum of sentence in connection with the Dilsukhnagar bomb blasts case in Hyderabad. The court has sentenced Indian Mujahideen boss, Yasin Bhatkal and his four accomplices to death.

Two bomb explosions took place in Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad on February 21, 2013 killing 18 people and 131 others injured.

This is the first time that an Indian court has awarded a sentence to the members of the militant group. The convicts - Yasin Bhatkal, Zia-ur-Rahman, Asadullah Akhtar, Tahaseen Akhtar and Aijaz Sheikh were tried under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Explosives Substances Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The NIA filed its chargesheet mentioning that the Mujahideen members had received financial help from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence.
