In an order issued to the Commissioners of Municipalities and Municipal Corporations, Director of Municipal Administration T K Sridevi said the urban local bodies should provide good amenities in all the cremation grounds of all communities. 

Hyderabad: The Municipal Administration Department has asked all the Municipalities and Municipal Corporations in the State to name the Hindu cremation grounds as ‘Vaikunta Dhamam’ and create necessary amenities.

In an order issued to the Commissioners of Municipalities and Municipal Corporations, Director of Municipal Administration T K Sridevi said the urban local bodies should provide good amenities in all the cremation grounds of all communities.

She said that the subject was discussed at the recent Collectors conference and that the Chief Minister expressed dissatisfaction over poor conditions of the grounds in the Municipalities and Municipal Corporations.

The Director said time and again communication was sent to the officials that cremation grounds in the urban local bodies should be developed in a most aesthetic manner and that all facilities should be provided, so that people can complete the last rites without any problems.

Sridevi said that the ULBs should find land for burial grounds if not identified so far, they should be provided with green fencing, four changing rooms for men and women separately, four toilets for men and women separately with running water, twelve lockers for storage of ash and other material, one electrical crematorium, required number of platforms, one bore well and clear way for entrance and exit.
