Hyderabad: Fed up with the negligence of the authorities in taking action on the contaminated of Malkam Cheruvu which was impacting on the health, the locals on Sunday staged a protest by closing the gate at Timber Lake Colony.

The angry mob objected to the inflow of heavy toxic pollutants and unbearable stinking materials into the lake. The people alleged that the fishermen lost their means of livelihood due to the pollution which lead to the deaths of fish in the lake and the menace they are facing due to the massive growth of mosquitoes in the surroundings.

The anguish protestors also alleged that the authorities let slide the plights of the people even after many complaints and added that the Rock Park in the south west of the lake was also damaged earlier.
