Warangal: Laknavaram is turning out to be a splendid lake getaway for those scrambling to pick laidback destinations to spend weekends.

Thanks to the Freakouts, a Bengaluru-based adventure event organising firm, that made it possible in association with the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC). This is the first-of-its-kind adventure tourism promotion activity in this part of the world.

Since the construction of a suspension bridge, the footfall to this hill-hemmed Laknavaram lake is gradually on rise. Children’s park, boating and restaurant are the other facilities.

At an average of 50,000 tourists a month comes to see the lake from Telangana, AP, Chhattisgarh and other states. Realising the tourism potential, the authorities added luxurious wooden cottages on an island in the lake recently.

Against this backdrop, the Freakouts event organisers came up with the idea of promoting weekend holiday in Laknavaram forging a tie-up with the TSTDC.

The Freakouts is providing adventure sports such as Burma Bridge (rope walking), Water Rafter, Kayaking (canoe-like boat), Water Roller Ball etc.

This apart, the organizers are providing luxurious camping tents with attached bathrooms and campfire.

Speaking to The Hans India, the Freakouts Director Kothala Vamshidhar said: “As part of tie-up, the TSTDC will provide us permission and local support for the conduct of the event. In return, we will provide business to the TSTDC-run restaurants and hotels through our packages.

“It was a truly exhilarating camping experience. The Freakouts team be commended for the job well done,” V Gopikrishna, one of the 34 employees of the nicheBees Techno Solutions of Hyderabad who spent the last weekend on one of the island in the lake, said.

The firm now has two more events in hand this month – next weekend (December 24 and 25), and on the eve of New Year.

It’s learnt that organisers are charging a fee of Rs 2,700 (exclusive of taxes) per each person for the package that includes two days and one night. The New Year event is likely to cost around Rs 3,500+taxes.
