A fine of Rs One lakh has been imposed by the Hyderabad high court on an organisation which filed a plea demanding the Telangana government to take over the properties of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the state. 

A fine of Rs One lakh has been imposed by the Hyderabad high court on an organisation which filed a plea demanding the Telangana government to take over the properties of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in the state.

The properties estimated to be worth Rs 14.5 crores include agricultural land, grape gardens, and commercial space.

The court dismissed the petition filed by the Gareeb International Society and stated that the plea was a Publicity Interest Petition rather than a Public Interest Petition. The Court even directed the state government to recover the fine within a period of four weeks.

Jayalalithaa, died late on December 5 in a Chennai hospital after being in the hospital for nearly three months.
