Hyderabad: Irrigation and Marketing Minister T Harish Rao said the State government has decided to develop a modern market for Mosambi in Nalgonda. Replying to a question on the steps taken by the government to increase the warehousing capacity in the State during the question hour in the Assembly here on Monday, Harish Rao said, “an extent of 15 acres of Irrigation Department’s land has been identified and the same will be transferred to the Marketing Department for the construction of the Mosambi Market.” For this, officials from the Marketing department had been asked to visit Nagpur in Maharashtra to study the market facilities there for orange.

He said out of 330 warehouses proposed under NABARD Warehousing Infrastructure Scheme, works had been launched at 321 locations. So far 104 warehouses had been completed and the remaining would be ready by February 2017. This would provide about 17.075 lakh MT of warehousing capacity in the State, he added. He further stated that through activating Rythu Bandhu Programme (RBP), the government has decided to provide warehouse facilities to the farmers in every mandal of the State.
