Hyderabad: Contrary to the often-publicised claims that the demonetisation would result in negative impact on the state economy, Finance Minister Eatala Rajender on Monday informed the state Assembly that they do not expect any major shortfall in the revenue generation this financial year.

Replying to a question on the state’s economic situation raised by MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, the Finance Minister said that by the end of September 2016, the total receipts of the government, including central grants, loans, market borrowings and share in taxes stood at Rs 47,027.59 crore.

He further said that during the same period, the total non-plan expenditure stood at Rs 28,858.33 crore and the plan expenditure was Rs 22,756.77 crore.

Claiming that the problems arising out of demonetisation were temporary, the minister said that he was confident that the state growth rate would be around 14 percent and Telangana would continue to be a surplus state.

Accusing the government of hiding facts on the State’s financial health, Akbaruddin said that if the state was a surplus one, why funds for schemes like Shadi Mubarak, Kalyana Lakshmi, post-metric scholarships to minorities, SC, ST and BCs, social security pensions like Aasara were not being released.

Leader of the Opposition K Jana Reddy said that according to the figures he has the state government would face a huge gap of about Rs 30,000 crore and demanded that a short discussion on the issue be permitted.

However, the Finance Minister refuted this argument. Unhappy with the reply of the Finance Minister, MIM and Congress members walked out of the Assembly.
