Adilabad: Boath MLA Rathod Bapu Rao said that the State government has released special funds to celebrate Christmas on a grand scale. Participating in the Christmas celebrations in Boath mandal headquarters in the district on Sunday where he was the chief guest, he said that the government has released Rs 10 crore for distribute clothes and also pay Rs 5 crore for the food served during the festival for the 1.90 lakh Christian population in the State and another Rs 1 crore for conducting the celebrations.

MLA Bapu Rao said that the State government would treat people belonging to all the religious groups equally and would not discriminate on the basis of religion or caste. He said that Rs 2 lakah was released for Christmas celebrations in Boath constituency alone.

In his speech, Adilabad District Collector Krishna Reddy said that the birth of Jesus Christ was an epoch making event in the history of mankind. After the birth of Jesus, periods in history began to be referred as Before Christ (BC) and After Christ (AD).

It has transformed world history, he added. We should imbibe the teachings of Christ, he added.A large number of leaders and mandal level officials were present on the occasion.
