Hyderabad: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday said the State government had urged the Union government not to treat NABARD loan of Rs 6,857 crore as part of relaxation of Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM )limit, so that the projects taken up under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna could be completed on time.

The Minister was replying to a question raised by TRS member A Venkateshwar Reddy on the projects taken up under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna. Harish Rao said as many as 11 ongoing projects were taken up under the PMKSY.

They include Indiramma Flood Flow Canal, Chokka Rao Devadula Lift Irrigation, Rajiv Bheema Lift Irrigation, SRSP-II, Peddavagu at Neelwai, Ralivagu, Mathandivagu, Komaram Bheem, Palemvagu, Peddavagu at Jagannathpur and Gollavagu. The estimated cost of the projects were Rs 7,669.658 crore.

The Minister revealed that earlier when the scheme was started there was only one project from Telangana State. Devadula project was taken up under the PMKSY, but later the Centre formed a committee with Irrigation Ministers from Telangana State, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

The committee recommended 10 other projects under the scheme in the State. He said the Centre should give Rs 1,197 crore as grant and till now it had released Rs 537 crore. It was yet to release balance of Rs 659 crore. He said these 11 projects would help irrigate 3.66 lakh hectares.

When Venkateshwar Reddy demanded that the government include Koilsagar project in the scheme, the Minister said the project would be taken up with the funding from the State government. He said for taking up cement, lining activity at the canals the State government would send proposals to the Centre to the tune of Rs 475 crore.
