First temple town to go cashless in Telangana
Yadadri, the temple town of Lord Lakshminarasimha Swamy, has become the first temple town to go cashless in Telangana. As many as 815 merchants have adopted to cashless transactions.

The pilgrims can now travel in autorickshaws, buy coconuts and other puja material, and purchase prasadam by electronic payments.
Government Whip Gongidi Sunita launched the cashless transaction on Tuesday by travelling in an autorickshaw and Yadadri Collector Anita Ramachandram purchased coconuts using SBI Buddy.
The initiative to make the entire temple town cashless was taken up by the Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) under the banner of 'Digithon Cashless Yadadri'.
The aim of this mission is to impart Digital Financial Literacy to the merchants in Yadadri with the help of 100 digital leaders.
These leaders sensitized and trained auto drivers, coconut merchants, prasadam counters, etc for cashless transactions, according to TITA president Sundeep Kumar Makthala.
Talking to media, Sunita said, "Lack of awareness of digital financial literacy, especially among merchants in rural areas, is a major challenge in the country.
She said there is an urgent need to create awareness among the citizens, especially in rural and semi-urban areas regarding digital finance services and also enable and support access to digital finance services options.
