GHMC official held for graft
An Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) walked into the dragnet of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday.
​Hyderabad: An Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) walked into the dragnet of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday.
According to an official release, the AEE, B Ashok Kumar, working at Banjara Hills ward was caught red-handed at his office when he demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant.
The accused officer demanded the bribe from a civil contractor K Shiva Kumar for processing the file related to the permission to cut the road to lay a sewage line. ACB officials recovered the tainted money from the table drawer of the AEE.
The accused was arrested and he would be produced before the special court for ACB cases pending further investigation, the release said.
