138 check posts have been set up in the city to crack down on drunken driving cases. Traffic Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ranganath asserted that drunken driving will be dealt with severely and advised people not to drive vehicles after consuming alcohol more than permitted.

He further said that the licenses will be seized if caught and added that they will struggle to attain a job, passport and visa to go abroad. The DCP also said that 100 teams of police forces have been placed all over Hyderabad to check misconduct.

Event organizers have been asked to take prior permission of the police to conduct parties or events. A meeting has been conducted with managements of hotels and bars where suggestions were given on taking precautionary measures during New Year celebrations.
