Senior Indian Police Service officer A K Khan, who retired as the Director General of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday, was given a warm farewell on the occasion at the ACB headquarters here. In his acceptance speech, Khan stressed the need to prevent corruption. Investigation must be unbiased.

Police officials and others must always act dispassionately, irrespective of the circumstances, he said. He thanked all the officials for the affection and warm felicitations.

As the chief of ACB, Khan established the Cyber Cell Lab at ACB Headquarters to help analyze digital evidence seized from accused officers and others. He also introduced the e-Office system and got a legal app prepared for monitoring court work.

A 1981 batch IPS officer, Khan worked in various important capacities before being elevated as additional DGP, law and order, of the combined Andhra Pradesh, Commissioner of Police of Hyderabad City and Vice Chairman and Managing Director, APSRTC.

On promotion as Director General of Police in 2013, he worked as Director General, ACB in the united Andhra Pradesh. Later, on final cadre allotment to Telangana on January 5, 2015, he became the DG, ACB, Telangana and served till his retirement.

Speaking at the farewell function, ACB director Charu Sinha said that she had drawn inspiration from Khan to have a cool temperament, whatever may be the situation. Meanwhile, the government issued orders appointing director Charu Sinha as the officer in charge of ACB, until a permanent officer is posted as the DG, ACB.
