Hyderabad: The High Court at Hyderabad on Monday admitted the appeal made by the convicts in the Dilsukhnagar bomb blast case.

A division bench comprising Justice C V Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice M S K Jaiswal admitted the appeal, but made it clear that it would hear the appeal along with the reference proceedings of the Special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court for confirmation of the death sentence awarded to convicts.

It may be recalled that the NIA Special Court had convicted these five operatives of Indian Mujahideen on December 13 for their involvement in two consecutive bomb explosions that took place at Dilsukhnagar area of the city in 2013. The blasts killed 18 persons and injured 131 others.

The court had termed the crime as 'rarest of rare' and imposed death penalty on convicts - Yaseen Bhatkal, Asadullah Akhtar, Zia ur Rahman, Mohammed Tahseen and Aizaz Saeed Shaik.

Aggrieved with the order of the lower court, they approached the High Court with an appeal against the order of the Special NIA Court.
