Hyderabad: As part of the modernization of police communication in Telangana, the State government is set to introduce a digital system in place of the analogue system.

Replying to a question in the State Assembly here on Thursday, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy said that feasibility studies in view of re-organisation of districts had been completed and communication established in all the districts.

Further, the procurement process for additional equipment like manpacks, static sets, repeaters and the like was in progress.

That apart, installation of 12 additional repeater towers in districts was under progress for improving the existing communication network.

The upgrading of the communication network of Hyderabad City was also under progress, he added.

The modernisation initiatives had been taken up with funds from the State resources as well as with the Centre’s help for police modernization, the minister said.

Every district would have a command control system, which in turn would be linked to the State Command and Control Center for effective monitoring and quick response by police personnel across the State.

The minister said steps would also be taken to ensure that the police personnel working in remote forest areas like Bhadrachalam would have access to an effective communication system to enhance their performance.
