Hyderabad: The CID, investigating into the Eamcet 2 paper leakage case, suffered a setback on Thursday as one of the accused died in a hospital here even before he was questioned.

According to CID Inspector General of Police, Sowmya Mishra, the 55-year-old accused Kamlesh Kumar Singh, an advocate by profession in Bihar, was arrested in Bihar on December 20 and brought to Hyderabad on a transit warrant.

He was produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody. The CID moved an application seeking police custody for the accused for further investigation.

The court granted eight day police custody on December 31. Even as he was brought to the CID office to subject him to questioning, the accused complained of chest pain around 11.45 am on January 1, said Sowmay Mishra said.

The IGP said the accused was immediately sent to Mahaveer Hospital for treatment. The doctors there advised the CID to shift him to the Osmania General Hospital.

Accordingly on the same day he was shifted to OGH, but he died on January 3 at around 4.20 pm. Doctors who treated him felt that it was a case of heart failure or myocardial infarction.

The CID lodged a complaint with Afzalgung police in this connection. The Sub-Divisional Executive Magistrate, Nampally, conducted inquest over the body in the presence of the son-in-law and nephew of the deceased. All the formalities required as per the NHRC guidelines were observed, the CID claimed.

After completion of postmortem examination by a team of doctors of forensic medicine of Osmania General Hospital under videography, the body of the deceased was handed over to his son-in-law and nephew, Sowmya Mishra said.
