Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced exemption from entertainment tax for the film Gautamiputra Sathakarni, the 100th film of actor N Balakrishna. Responding to a request by Balakrishna who had called on Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan to invite him for the premier show, the Chief Minister said the Telangana government would support and encourage films based on noted historical personalities.

He recalled the entertainment tax exemption that was given to an earlier historical film Rudramma Devi. Thanking the Chief Minister for his generous gesture, Balakrishna said the entire shooting of the film was completed in a record number of 78 days. Besides shooting at Kotilingala in Telangana State, the film was shot at several historically important locations in the country. Balakrishna was accompanied by Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, producer of the film Rajeev Reddy and Srinivas, presenter of the film.

Balakrishna earlier drove into the Assembly premises around 12.40 pm. He was received by the TDP floor leader A Revanth Reddy, MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah and party senior leader Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy. Balakrishna spent a few minutes in the TDLP office. He wanted to invite the Chief Minister for the movie but since he had already left for his camp office, he met Minister T Srinivas Yadav. Yadav accompanied Balakrishna to CM’s camp office.
